Shopping in Paris, France | My favourite boutiques in Montmartre

When I was in Paris this past April, I decided to check out a few concept stores that have recently popped up. These little gems of shops are about curating an experience, usually revolving around a specific product or lifestyle. They are all locally owned, so visiting these boutiques is a great way to support local designers and businesses while shopping in Paris.

I started out at Thanks, a boutique just a few minutes walk from the Anvers metro station in Montmartre. It is a cool, modern storefront, with a fresh, intimate interior full of accessories & focusing on jewellery.

I checked out their Instagram page before heading over, and had my eye on a collection of gold bangles by the brand LMK; which were inscribed with the names of Parisian neighbourhoods, and references to pop culture.

I could have spent hours in there, admiring the jewels, but decided to head towards the Sacré Coeur to see what else I could find.

After walking up the hill to visit the Sacré Coeur cathedral, I wandered around the neighbourhood and found  Lekker Koncept Store and Mademoiselle Pimpante.

Lekker is a cute two-room boutique, the front part of the store showcasing clothing and accessory brands (mostly French, I was told), and the back multitasking as a coffee shop. They carry the line Wanted Gina the label behind the ‘Le Carousel’ high waisted mini I’m wearing here.

Just down the road, I found the boutique Mademoiselle Pimpante, where I chatted with the store owner who also happened to be one of the two creators of the clothing line. She told me a bit about how the brand came to life, and how the shop was one of their more recent ventures. I ended up picking up this metallic purse from them. The pompom was what sold me 😉

This is my favourite way to explore a city. By seeing where your feet take you without any pre-determined plan, you always end up discovering things you never would have expected. You get to connect with the boutique owners and designers, which makes the shopping experience more personal and memorable and the travel experience feel more authentic. Meeting and connecting with the people that make up a city helps you to better understand its culture, language, and of course, take on style.
